World Ultimate was released in 1995. It's hard to believe it's been over 10 years since this came out. Sounds even better than when I first popped this in the tape deck. I haven't probably listened to this in about 5-6 years (all the way through) until earlier today.
This shit is essential as any of the first three A Tribe Called Quest albums. Yusef Afloat and Nouka Basetype aka Sach are not the most complex lyricists, but the combination of their talents is exponentially greater than the sum. Some describe them as jazzy/ boom bap west coast artists who sounded more like east coast artists. I think it's clear that they sound like the west coast, especially on the laid back styles of songs like "On The Road Again" and "Bus Stops."
Extra props for self producing this album. This is the perfect laid back cruisin soundtrack for the summer. Sach is still doing thangs. Check for him.
