Portishead: Third Album & Coachella

It has been over 10 years since Portishead's last album, and damn son,
I almost forgot about these guys. Finally after the falsely rumored
album Alien, the third album from Portishead titled "Third," will
release on April 14. The title and cover is sort of plain, but as
long as the music hits me like the second one did, all good.

Following the release, on April 26 Portishead will be headlining the
Saturday lineup at Coachella. While it may not be equal to the
intimate setting at Roseland Ballroom in New York in 1997, I have yet
to hear of them ever performing out here on the west coast. So I'll
take whatever we can get. See you muthafuckas there.

The Wire: Seasons 1-4

Well, Valentine’s Day will be here in 2 days and the perfect gift is out there.
Remember your girl bugging you about getting her Sex In The City complete box set?

Well fuck that, fuck the flowers and the candy. Make an investment and
get The Wire: Seasons 1-4. What better way to spend Valentine’s day than
watching Method Man holding down corners and towers, and Leo Fitzpatrick
cooking up schemes to get high off some W.M.D.’s?

If she doesn’t like it, you keep it for yourself, which falls into the plan.
It’s the thought that counts. I like Dexter, but this is still the best show
on television. Who knew Baltimore had a story to tell?

Flying Lotus -> Reset EP

Flylo’s music offers a long-needed refreshing taste of sound to savor. Although this is only a 6-track EP teaser, it’s still quite a journey with Flylo at the helms.

The opener for this one eases us in smoothly with “Tea Leaf Dancers”, which sounds of dub-inspired-space-soul.

All the tracks delight the ears, but “Massage Situation” is the track that really caught me. I've been bumping this while maxin’ out relaxin’ with my main squeeze of the moment, vaporizing a nice green nug and tossing down some cognac.

Categorizing this music is somewhat difficult for me because it seems to grasp, and more or less, subtly touch upon many genres of music.

But like many of you out there, I am simply an aficionado for dope beats. So to put it simply, as he did with 1983, Flying Lotus has blessed us again with some bangin’ beats. Only wish there were more.
